Taking Up Space

These images were the inspiration behind my final project on blank walls and dead space. I have always admired the old painted advertisements along the walls of some of Edmonton's historic buildings and wished that more businesses would follow suit and somehow add a splash of color to their otherwise lackluster and dead wall space.

Painted electricity boxes along Alberta Avenue. This is a great way to incorporate art and color to a street
while deterring graffiti.

Jasper Avenue: Beautiful examples of old advertisements on Edmonton's historic buildings. They are not only eye
catching, but they mitigate much of the dead space these large walls impose.

Downtown Edmonton: Here are some more 'modern' examples of advertisements on large, otherwise empty
downtown walls.
